Make Your Own Italian Dressing

So many store bought dressings are filled with all kinds of added sugars, additives, gums, and fillers so making your own is one way to ensure that your dressing is clean and healthy.Β  This recipe takes no time to make and you can store it in your fridge for up to two weeks.

For this recipe, you will need:

Olive Oil: I like to use EVOO (extra virgin) because it’s not refined or processed

White Wine Vinegar: you can substitute and use a lighter vinegar like rice wine vinegar or champagne vinegar

Parsley: use fresh parsley because it adds so much flavor to the recipe, but you can use 2 tsp of dried parsley too

Garlic: garlic has so many healthy benefits including being great for your immune system

Oregano: use dried oregano or substitute with 1 tbsp fresh chopped oregano

Salt

Pepper

Lemon Juice: this adds zest and tanginess to the dish and a refreshing taste and gives you a boost of Vitamin C

Honey: this is optional if you want your dressing just a bit sweeter and try and use local or raw honey which you can usually find at your farmer’s markets or local grocery store

Tips:

  • Once you let the dressing sit for at least 24 hours, the flavor and taste will be better since the olive oil will absorb all of the flavor of the spices and herbs
  • You can change out the fresh herbs for any other ones you have and get a slightly different taste
  • You can add in a pinch of chili powder to add a kick to this

How to Store:

  • Store in the refrigerator in a sealed container for up to 2 week but remove from the refrigerator and let sit at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before using because the olive oil will congeal
