Looking for another great take on nice cream? This vegan chocolate version is so easy to make and is another way to make a summer treat with frozen bananas.  So many ice creams have unhealthy and inflammatory ingredients so making your own takes no more than 10 minutes and this one is made with unrefined sugar and 4 simple ingredients. Keep frozen bananas in your freezer so you can make this at any point this summer.  It’s also a great way to use up your old brown bananas.

For this recipe, you will need:

Bananas

Plant Based Milk: Use whatever you have in your fridge, like almond milk, cashew milk, or oat milk

Cocoa/Cacao Powder: cacao powder is a better option than cocoa powder as it maintains more beneficial nutrients

Maple Syrup: it’s best to use pure maple syrup for best flavor and for the most nutrient dense and cleanest option

Tips:

  • Cut and freeze 2 bananas overnight so they are all ready to go when you get a nice cream craving
  • Let bananas defrost slightly before you put them into your blender (about 5 minutes)
  • Have old brown bananas?  Cut them into slices and put them in the freezer so you can make this recipe whenever you like
  • Top this with nuts like sliced almonds, pecan pieces or walnuts, granola, unsweetened coconut, or cacao nibs

How to Store:

  • Store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks in a sealed container
