Jamu juice is an herbal beverage from Indonesia that is taken for healing and to help boost your immune system! If you ever are lucky enough to travel there, including Bali, you are sure to see this drink appear on restaurant menus. It is typically made with ginger and turmeric and is a great anti-inflammatory drink full of antioxidants and gut healing ingredients. Made in a high speed blender in under 30 minutes, this is a great daily power shot to add to your daily self care routine.
For this recipe, you will need:
- High Speed Blender
- Large Pot
- Cheese Cloth: this helps to drain your juice and get rid of any chunks or pieces so it’s smooth
- Ginger: this gives the drink a zing and that kick in the back of your throat, but is a great digestive and anti-inflammatory ingredient
- Turmeric: this is a great anti-inflammatory ingredient and I recommend using fresh turmeric if you can find it for maximum health benefits
- Water: this dilutes the intensity of the ingredients and make it into a drink that can be consumed
- Honey: this sweetens the beverage and offsets some of the tartness and spice, plus it has antiviral properties
- Black Pepper: adding in black pepper improves your body’s ability to absorb the turmeric (curcumin)
- Lemon: this adds flavor and gives you a boost of vitamin C
