So many store bought plant based milks are filled with all kinds of additives, gums, refined sugars, and fillers so making your own is one way to ensure that your milk is clean and healthy.Β This recipe is ready in under 15 minutes and you can store the oat milk in your fridge for a few days to enjoy all week long.
For this recipe, you will need:
- Oats: try to buy organic or non-GMO oats since conventional oats are typically sprayed with the chemical glyphosate, which is harmful to our health
- Date: soak your date in warm water for 5 minutes to soften it and make sure you remove the pits. You can substitute 1 tbsp of maple syrup instead
- Vanilla: adds a subtle vanilla flavor to your recipe
- Salt
Tips:
- Use a cheesecloth or towel and you might want to strain two times to make sure it gets all the oat pieces out
- You donβt want to overblend, only blend for up to 30 seconds, otherwise the milk can become gelled
How to Store:
- Store in a sealed airtight container in the refrigerator for up 3 days, just give it a good shake before enjoying as it will separate
